Ok, so how is it that all of those health coaches, or people selling products like Beachbody and Plexus, while giving health advice (we know they all do it, and I see it in my FB feed every day), are not violating nutrition licensure laws?

A lot of the time they're also so close to practicing medicine without a license. The Plexus people, oh my goodness. Have a headache, tired? Buy this pro

Hi, had a question I thought some RDs could weigh in on.

I've seen a lot of supplements recently with collagen protein in them, some with gelatin, some with hydrolyzed collagen, and some with enzyme-predigested collagen.

Some have added amino acids to the predigested collagen - cysteine, histidine, methionine, threonine, tryptophan.

I'd heard for years that collagen was junk protein a

Long story short: I'm a consultant at a nursing home. This week, the director of nursing decided that all supplements will be replaced with a fortified foods program. I politely explained the purpose of supplements and the benefits of keeping them.

I walk in last night and EVERYTHING is gone. Boost, VHC, ProSource, Boost Glucose control. GONE. They sent them back to the manufacturer for a re

Hi folks,

I've been involved in sports nutrition and the health industry for a number of years, in conjunction with my career in Engineering. I'm burned out, and took a job at a health food store. I'm looking seriously at a well regarded course in nutrition in Canada, and would like to focus on Sports nutrition.

This would be a two year (non degree) program to become a nutritionist, may

I work at a facility for the developmentally disabled, with most patients having cerebral palsy. I was wondering if anyone who works with this population has a set way for determining desirable body weight (DBW) for adults, or if they have found standards to compare their weights too. Also, which methods are being used for height, and how often are they measured? Any input is appreciated!

I work in long-term care and have a patient who has been on enteral feeding for years. I've been at this particular facility for maybe 6 months and around the time I started here we struggled with him losing weight; eventually rectified with an elemental formula. He was stable for ~3 months, then 30 days ago he started to gain and gain each week, about 12 lb total. Then just as suddenly and witho

Just a question which has caught me out - I am just about to prepare for an interview and I have been asked to prepare a presentation that states " as the stroke and neurology dietitian responsible for the development and provision of the service alongside you Dietetic assistant - can you tell us what your priorities would be for the first 6 months of the role"

Can anyone point me to some good resources for learning the basics about counseling bariatric surgery clients (assessment, kcal/pro needs, etc.)? I've done some Googling, but I want to make sure I'm using evidence-based resources that are widely used by other RDs in the field.

Thanks!

Hello, I am new to this forum. I have taken the CDR exam 7 times as of last Thursday with my recent score being of 22. My 2 scores before the last time was 23. I have studied so much in the last 3 years with no luck. I have used RDstudy. com, Inman, Breeding and Associates, etc. I am at my wits end. I really don't understand why I cannot pass this exam because I am quite knowledgeable. Any a

Have this case study about a cancer pt who is receiving chemo, 20 lb wt loss, albumin 2.8, and having n/v.

I know this probably pretty simple, just confusing me for some reason, or maybe I'm over thinking it. Its asking what is the best indicator for malnutrition...
a. n/v
b. the pt having cancer
c. 20 lb wt loss
d. albumin 2.8

Hey guys,
So I just got into two grad schools for nutrition. I was wondering what the job market is like for the non RD major. If all else fails I would be a college cross country and track and field coach but I just was wondering what is the job market for anything else out there?
Thanks,

I frequently hear that they feel they need to eat all the time to keep their metabolism going or eat a certain food to increase their metabolism. I then ask them where they read that, what their understanding of metabolism is and how this has been working for them in terms of their long term goal, which weight loss.

Hi, I work for a community clinic and most patients here have MediCal. I need to learn if/what/under what circumstances MediCal (Medicaid) would pay for MNT. Does any of the webinars specifically address this issue? I see one that deals with reimbursement from Medicare and private payers but I am interested in MediCal-Medicaid.
Thank you.

I see primarily eating disorder patients and have found a lot of success in using the mobile application "Recovery Record". The patients use this in their IOP/OP programs and it's almost being like a fly on the wall to observe their thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and eating habits. The best part is that there are no calories or serving sizes and the patients do not have to do any extra

Hi guys,

Does anyone work at a hospital where meds are given with a supplement? Have you noticed any positive or negative outcomes from this? What supplement is being used for med pass?

I am in charge of piloting a nutrition related study on our 20 bed oncology unit and considering some sort of med pass trial.

Thanks for your input!
